Classroom MACRO Plan  I teach EC- 8 Math and English/Language Arts for Special Education.  My students are provided instruction following their Individual Education Plan (IEP).  The IEPs are personalized and approved by the ARD Committee for each student according to their tested abilities.  I teach on the premises that “repetition is the key to learning.”  The amount of repetition depends on the type of skill being taught and the student’s individual strengths and weaknesses.  Everyone can learn as long as they are willing to keep trying!

Grading and Late Work Practices  Because of the type of classes I teach, I give very little homework.  As long as it is not a daily habit and students provide a sensible excuse for late work, I will be happy to work with the student to get everything completed and returned.  I do have a standard spelling and vocabulary test every Thursday.  Students are expected to study their words and be prepared for these tests each week.

Re-teach Practices   There is re-teach in the classroom everyday.  When students make below 70 on an assignment, they are required to correct what they missed.  During this time, they receive additional instruction and practice on that skill.  When appropriate, I average the first grade with the second grade after they have redone the assignment.  This provides the student an opportunity to improve their original grade.
