Classroom Macro Plan

I teach math and language for 1st and 2nd Grade.  I also teach Social Studies for Second Grade.  My goal is to give the students the knowledge and skills they will use in everyday life.  That is why most of our lessons are hands on.  By doing this I hope to encourage them to develop a love for learning at an early age. It will provide them with the basic building blocks so that they can have the higher order thinking skills to be successful in their academic career.

Grading policy and Late work

I assign homework as a tool to reinforce what the students learned in class that day.  It is also assigned to give them a sense of responsibility.  By giving homework parents are also able to see what their child is currently learning in the classroom which is a great way to talk to them about what is going on in school.  Homework should be turned in on a daily basis.  If homework is not turned in I will provide the opportunity for the student to finish it at recess.  I adhere to the grading policy of Gause I.S.D.

Reteach Polices

Gause I.S.D. has adopted Saxon math as the primary math curriculum.  Saxon is 100% Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS) aligned.  Saxon math is designed to spiral so that that it continually reteaches objectives already taught.  This provides ample opportunity for reteach.  I also reteach small groups and individuals on an as needed basis.  Tutorials are also provided from 3-4 pm, two days a week, for those students who still need extra reinforcement.
