Classroom MACRO Plan I teach grades K-5 science. At each grade level, the curriculum is 100% Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS) aligned. My goal in teaching science is to give the students a love for the world around them, focusing on science elements. Hopefully a few of my students will go on to make science their career, but my goal is for all my students to leave my classroom with a greater fascination for this wonderful universe we live in. My classes are very hands-on with a priority given to inquiry-based learning opportunities which allow for critical thinking.
Grading and Late Work Practices I follow the district grading policy. For late work, at a minimum, I follow the district late work policy; however, I realize that there are extenuating circumstances and I will often accept late work after the due date as long as the assignment in question has not been graded and given back to other students. Late work beyond the district policy is at teacher discretion.

Re-teach Practices Following the Madeline Hunter Teaching Model, I utilize every opportunity to re-teach assignments when individuals or classes struggle with specific concepts. There is re-teach in the classroom everyday. Additional re-teach opportunities are available during tutorials from 3-4 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Students also may have opportunities to improve their grades on assignments when re-teach is offered. Improving a grade may be in the form of correcting a test for additional points, redoing an assignment for a maximum of a 70, or doing an alternate assignment for a grade that will raise the grade in question without changing the original grade (example: the student may do another assignment on the same concept and I will accept this assignment and record the grade, but not change the original grade). A student’s failure to appropriately study or prepare for an assignment or test does not entitle them to re-teach opportunities. The teacher has sole discretion on which grades/assignments are re-taught and when opportunities are available to improve the grade.
